A Collection of Haiku from Maui
Written in English by
Victor C. Pellegrino
and Translated into Japanese by
Dr. Hiroshi Kanzaki
Written in English by Victor C. Pellegrino (his 6th book), and translated by Dr. Hiroshi Kanzaki (author and translator of over 20 books), this collection is comprised of haiku written between the years of 1973 and 1995. Dr. Kanzaki made two trips to Maui to complete annotations and translations with the author.
A Slip of Bamboo contains 80 haiku and 26 illustrations, all grouped according to the four seasons. Each haiku reflects the unique perceptions and insights gained by the author as a result of his life on Maui and his many journeys and studies in India, China, and Japan.
With its small size, attractive, full-color cover (photographed by respected German photographic journalist Max-Felix Wetterwald), black-and-white line drawings by California illustrator Deborah James, and thoughtful haiku, A Slip of Bamboo makes the perfect gift for any contemplative person.
A comprehensive glossary is also included.
